Darin Hoekema, A.I.A.
Darin brings a solid range of construction experience and architectural ideology to Locati Architects. Raised in the Bozeman area under the 'Big Sky,' he has a unique perspective of the quality of life and all that Montana has to offer.
“My interest in architecture and the built environment came about early in my childhood.” Darin would often be found curiously inspecting the work of any construction project near his parent’s home. He spent one brief year studying away from Montana at a small private college. Realizing his desire for the vast spaces and simple, relaxed lifestyle that Bozeman had to offer, he came back to pursue a career in architecture at Montana State University. He continued to balance his architectural studies with a job as a construction laborer until he started with Locati Architects in 1999. While developing an understanding for the level of quality and attention to detail that Locati Architects offers, Darin finished his schooling receiving a Bachelor degree in Environmental design along with a Masters of Architecture degree in May of 2000.
Darin has managed a wide range of projects with Locati Architects, from well detailed Montana cabins, to 15,000 square feet mountain retreats. His management and organization skills help him to maintain a strong understanding of each project from early design through contract documents to construction administration. “From walking the site at the outset of a project to the day the client moves in to their new home, I am committed to that project. The key to making them successful is communication between client, architect and builder. My role as a project manager is that of a communicator and interpreter.”
“The landscape and spaces of the West truly inspire a unique style of architecture. A home designed to capture the culture and ideals of Montana along with the clients needs and desires has to capitalize on the vast spaces, topography, and exposures to light and views that most sites have to offer.”
